South Savo, Finland

South Savo Food Cluster

Context

South Savo Food Cluster will cover the food chain actors. Still, the role of end-users, customers, is weak. The need for modern food education and enhancing food citizenship has been identified. The co-creation of new food-products for public and private food service (customers, producers & food service together) plus promotion of the elements of sustainability of local food products are developed in the project.

The South Savo case addresses strategies such as:

  • South Savo Regional Strategy: Forest, Water and Food 2021 -2027
  • Smart Specialisation Strategy for South Savo 2018
  • Menestyvä ja muutosjoustava Etelä-Savo- Ruoka-alan kehittämisohjelma 2021 -2027 (Development program for South Savo Food Sector 2021 – 2027)

Why

  • Newly established South Savo Food Cluster covers the food chain actors in South Savo. The food cluster needs to establish its activities in the area.
  • Regional strategies and action plans point out the role of the sustainable food sector and (food) tourism.

What

The co-creation of new food products for public and private food service (customers, producers & food service together) plus the promotion of the elements of sustainability of local food products will be developed.
